My Project: A Well in Malawi - click on the banner to visit my page

I am on a mission to save the 1.1 billion people around the globe who do not have access to potable (clean/drinkable) water.
These people are dying at a rate of 42,000 per week from cholera and diarrhea brought on by the lack of basic sanitation and
drinking unclean water.The majority of this 42,000 per week are little children.

I am raising money for a rehabilitated borehole in Malawi which will provide clean, safe water for up to 500 people
for up to 20 years. This project will cost $1,500 but how really do you put a price on the chance you give these people, simply to live…without dying?

Times are bad here in America, with a frumpy economy and people drudging through their day depressed about the $4 per gallon of gas. North Carolina is in
a drought, plenty of people can’t find jobs and everything we seem to need seems to get more and more expensive. But there is a significant difference between
our needs and the needs of these 1.1 less lucky billion. While we seem to need to look nice,workout, eat well, travel and maintain our social statuses, all the
other people want is water they could actually see through every now and then perhaps if it wasn’t too much to ask, a chance at good health and for their kids to live.

I love most all people. Yes, I said MOST but I’m a teenager, I am allowed to have my flaws. My heart however, particularly goes out to the ones that worry
less about taxes and how much weight they want to lose and a little more about the leeches in their drinking water.
This project and the people it can save has ended up meaning more to me than many other silly “teenagerish” things that girls usually care about. Know that
any contribution of yours for this project is changing more than just those 500 lives, it is changing mine too.
